This episode is sure to generate some strong opinions and hopefully a positive discussion. John and Mike meet with Neil the Chair of the new Alberta Chapter of Back Country Hunters and Anglers (BHA). Their discussion will cover several controversial topics such as their stance on ATV use, the Castle management plan and more. I’ve been to a couple of the BHA pub nights and they’re a great way to meet like minded people.
The most recent BHA event was a talk with Grant Chapman, Wildlife Biologist, Alberta Environment and Parks. Grant presented information on wildlife management for the Foothills and mountain WMUs in his area of responsibility. Population trends, tag allotment, and habitat conditions were all discussed. It was very informative and worthwhile.
Also, BHA put on some “train to hunt” type early morning hikes here in Calgary. My son and I joined the group a few times, it was great and I was amazed and happy to see my son so interested in getting up at 5:00am to go for a hike.
